A Special Bid Sale is conduced when the department has
excess items that still have either a high resale value or are too large to move
to Surplus warehouse. The candidated for a Special Bid Sale are items that would
be of value only to a few potential buyers and are expensive to purchase new. Such
items will remain at the department until the high bidder pays for them and picks
them up.
A department should complete an Authorization to Dispose of Property Form, listing the item(s)
for sell. The box labeled "Special Bid Sale" is checked. The Surplus Property Office
keeps a database of potential bidders; however, we encourage department to include
their own list when they send in the form.
We will fax the department a copy of the bid form and a copy of the newspaper ad
that will be run in the Daily Territorial. Departments are encouraged to make changes
to the bid form or to the ad. Note: the ad can be placed in a different publication
if you desire, but will be billed against your sale. When the bids are tabulated
an approval sheet is sent to the department for approval. After receiving the approval
for the high bid, a notification will be sent to all bidders informing them of the
successful bid. It is the successful bidder's responsibility to remove the equipment
after payment is received by the Surplus Property Office.
